I think the institutions that have been created that<br \/>\ncontrol and own them are designed for a very specific function.<\/p>\n<p>And that function is not to perform journalism in the way I think it<br \/>\nshould be performed by challenging those in power. These institutions<br \/>\nare part of the circle of power that they are supposed to be serving as<br \/>\na checkon.<\/p>\n<p>They benefit on being part of that system and to expect them to work<br \/>\nagainst them is contrary against the nature of how humans function.<\/p>\n<p>So I think it&#8217;s much more worthwhile to think about not about how to<br \/>\nencourage them to change but to create competing institutions that will<br \/>\nfill the hole that they decided to leave and to perform journalism in a<br \/>\ndifferent way. And I think the internet has become that that is one of<br \/>\nthe main reasons why established journalism is dying because a superior<br \/>\nalternative has sort of emerged from what the internet enables.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&#8212;<\/p>\n<p><em>Ich glaube nicht, dass wir viel Aussicht darauf haben, dass sich die<br \/>\ntraditionellen Medien \u00e4ndern. Die Institutionen, die diese Medien<br \/>\nbesitzen und kontrollieren sind f\u00fcr einen ganz bestimmten Zweck<br \/>\ngeschaffen worden.<\/p>\n<p>Und dieser Zweck ist es nicht den Journalismus auszu\u00fcben, den ich gut<br \/>\nfinde, der die M\u00e4chtigen herausfordert. Diese Institutionen sind Teil<br \/>\ndes Machtgef\u00fcges, dass sie eigentlich kontrollieren sollten. Von diesem<br \/>\nMachtgef\u00fcge zu profitieren und gleichzeitig dagegen zu arbeiten<br \/>\nwiderspricht einfach der menschlichen Natur.<\/p>\n<p>Ich glaube deshalb, dass es keinen Sinn macht, dar\u00fcber nachzudenken, die<br \/>\nInstititutionen zu \u00e4ndern. Stattdessen geht es darum, Alternativen zu<br \/>\nentwicklen, die das gro\u00dfe Loch in der Medienlandschaft f\u00fcllen, dass die<br \/>\ntraditionellen Medien hinterlassen haben.
